Develops application programs as a software engineer

My responsibilities include developing application programs utilizing our rendering engine “Mizuchi” as well as developing programs for other companies as a contractor. When I was a student, I enjoyed devoting myself to authoring video games sometimes as a programmer, other times as a planner. Through such experiences, I eventually found myself getting interested particularly in game technical aspects, so I decided to become a programmer and started to study programming libraries and shaders, which are the rendering techniques, necessary for game creation.
I discovered Silicon Studio at the job fair held at my school. In its first impression, Mizuchi’s advanced technology proved to me the prominence of this company’s skills. In addition, I thought the company was attractive because it not only provides game engines to various companies within the industry but also plays a key role in other business fields.

Active discussions in a very open atmosphere

Before joining the company, I assumed my job was to complete the tasks as fully instructed by my boss but in fact, it was more flexible. We start our careers first by supporting senior colleagues. Then, we are given instructions, for example, to modify the unnatural dispersion of light detected in the application program our company developed. Working on the application, I could decide on my own how to proceed with the given task. In other words, I decided myself how I should write programs or plan my work schedules. If a problem were to occur after I started, other senior colleagues were always willing to help me. So, I can work on my own tasks without any worries. It is good that we can naturally enjoy the openness of discussion while exchanging our ideas and opinions freely with each other.

Vigorous debating among different teams

Although the size of the development team differs according to the project scale, my current project team involves five members: one project manager, two engineers, one designer and one UI/UX designer. During the project period, we work together as a team. While we hold clients meeting and internal meetings once or twice a week to share progress made, there are frequent conversations among the engineers. So even if you become stuck with your own task, you could frankly ask other members, including the senior colleagues of other teams, for help and get some useful advice without having to make an appointment.
People in my division are hooked on programming. Sometimes, during meetings, we get off the topic after pouring too much enthusiasm into the discussion of new technologies. Simply, we like talking about new technologies. We need no hesitation to suggest or share our ideas with each other.
